Tyler GT Truss Adds
It seems Tyler GT Truss is the PRT (pre-rigged truss) of the 2020s. For you kids out there that never used PRT, it was truss designed to have 6-lamp bars (single or double hung) installed within each section for easy transport, setup, and cabling. Those days are long gone and while there’s been numerous truss manufacturers who offer pieces to do the same for moving lights, nobody seems to have cornered this part of the market better than Tyler Truss out of Pendleton, Indiana, with their GT truss.
We didn’t pick up our first pieces of Tyler GT truss until 2018. We were admittedly late to the party. We soon realize we couldn’t have enough. How did we get by for so many years doing rentals and live-event production without owning any of this wonderful truss-goodness?
We’ve been adding pieces to our rental inventory over the past few years (2020 and 2021, obviously not.) We just received our latest GT truss additions, which is probably the last cap-ex purchase to be received this year (2023). This batch includes 5′, 8′, and 10′ sections. The 5′ sections are just for occasional problem solving. The workhorse pieces are the 8′ and 10′ sections — rental utilization between the two is remarkably similar. So rather than invest in just one length, at the expense of depth, we have [mostly] balanced our investment between 8′ and 10′ sections.
While we’re pleased to end 2023 with yet more GT inventory, we realize it only scratches the surface in terms of demand. But hey, as of this writing, the next fiscal year is just a couple of weeks away…
